BE AWARE OF A HEAVY PUSH FOR MUCH HIGHER DENSITY IN BROOKSWOOD-FERNRIDGE FROM DEVELOPERS
As we go into Phase 4 of the Official Community Plan Update, unofficial sources have informed the Brookswood-Fernridge Community Association that there is heavy pressure from developers (who DO NOT live in Langley) to increase the density in the undeveloped portion of Brookswood-Fernridge in excess of what has already been proposed. They are unhappy with the density of 39,000 projected in the three plans presented in Phase 3 at the Open House – they want Brookswood-Fernridge to be the next Willoughby!!! These are people with no vested interest in our community other than to profit from it.
The BFCA and the residents of Brookswood-Fernridge want to keep this a live-able, vibrant community, and to prevent it from becoming the next Willoughby!
The proposed OCP that was defeated in 2014 had a density of 43,000. Why would the residents of Brookswood-Fernridge accept a higher population density when they’ve already strongly voiced their opposition to it? If we don’t resist this push from outside sources there’s an imminent possibility this community could end up with Willoughby density.
Make your voices heard as loudly as those who are looking to maximize their profits from our neighbourhood! We need YOU to write to Township staff, Council and the local papers to let them know you are not happy with people only interested in profiting off of our community with no consideration or care for the current and future residents of Brookswood-Fernridge.
We need YOU to sign up for the workshops on April 6, 11 or 12th to discuss multi-family housing design. Say NO to higher density just because a developer wants more money in their pockets and say NO to buildings higher than four storys!
